In 2005, Dr. Rizik approached Moceri Management and requested that the team manage SIF with an emphasis on driving attendance. Moceri Management accepted the challenge and assumed responsibility for the event, including fundraising of educational grants, development of agenda in conjunction with the SIF steering committee, selection of faculty, selection of venue, and coordination of all marketing activities.
Moceri Management began by inviting premier faculty to speak at SIF: “In developing any Continuing Medical Education (CME) symposium, education is the primary focus. It is therefore critical to select an expert faculty that can drive an innovative and informative agenda,” states Toni Knopf, CEO of Moceri Management.
Moceri Management repositioned SIF as a destination meeting by improving hotel accommodations, moving SIF to a key holiday weekend, and providing information to attendees regarding points of interest and family activities in the Scottsdale area.
Utilizing a grassroots marketing campaign, Moceri Management staff telephones past registrants, executed a direct mail and e-mail campaign, developed an SIF website, and conducted a driving tour of key cities to meet face-to-face with cath labs and hospital physicians.
The result was an impressive 40% increase in attendance over a two-year period. Despite this increase in attendance, SIF maintains its intimate feel with a high faculty-to-attendee ratio to allow for increased interaction with speakers and an exciting educational opportunity.
