Bridging the Gap - Nursing Education

In 1999, Moceri Management realized that the rapid changes in interventional cardiology necessitated an urgent need for educational programs targeted to the specific concerns of coronary care nurses and cath lab technologists. “We developed HeartFOCUS as an educational forum to address the latest advances in cardiovascular medicine and bridge the gap between research and practice,” states Eileen Roehl, Managing Director of Programs at Moceri Management.

HeartFOCUS offers high-level content, including such topics as PFO closures for strokes and migraines, cardiac imaging and CVI/CVIS training. The forum is an on-going and open dialogue between attendees and faculty. In 2007, simulation training for recognizing solutions to challenging saphenous vein graft interventions and enhancing clinical skills was incorporated into the curriculum.

Hospitals play a vital role in nursing education. As a result, Moceri Management has developed strong working relationships with leading hospitals throughout the United States. Each year, HeartFOCUS is developed in conjunction with a leading cardiovascular hospital. Past host hospitals have included the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation, Saint Joseph’s Hospital of Atlanta, Piedmont Hospital of Atlanta and Lenox Hill Hospital of New York.

In 2008, Moceri Management plans to host HeartFOCUS in Detroit, Michigan; Atlanta, Georgia and Minneapolis, Minnesota
