Every year, GWBC recognizes those individuals who have made substantial achievements throughout the year and contribute significantly to the development of women business enterprises at large.  We need your help in identifying our advocates of change!  Nominate a deserving WBE or corporation today!

Here are a few rules for the nomination process:

  • Nominator must be a current certified WBE or corporate member
  • Nominees must be a current certified WBE or corporate member
  • Self nominations are accepted
  • All nominations must be submitted via online registration by September 5, 2008.

Nominate a Corporation or Corporate Employee

Advocate of the Year
This award will be presented to an employee of a corporate sponsor or member of GWBC.  The winner will be selected for their extraordinary efforts to assist and support WBE business owners.  This individual will be recognized and honored for their desire to mentor, coach and support women-owned businesses by affording personal assistance and tutelage.

Buyer of the Year
This award will be presented to an individual who is an employee of a Georgia-based company or the Georgia-based facility of the company. This nominee must be a member of GWBC who has instituted programs to offer equal access for women-owned suppliers and attained world-class quality in its supplier diversity programs featuring WBEs.  The winner will be honored for substantially increasing its annual spending with WBEs. 

Corporation of the Year
This award will be presented to a major corporation and GWBC member who is a Georgia-based company or Georgia-based facility of the company that has shown the most significant advancement in breaking down barriers that impede WBEs from gaining fair access to procurement opportunities.  This winner will be honored for the various initiatives it has launched to increase its relationship and spending with WBE suppliers including supplier development activities, financial assistance, and strategic alliance counseling.

The Voice Award
This award will be presented to a corporate member of GWBC.  The winner will be recognized for his or her efforts to strengthen the role of women business owners and the woman-owned business community as a whole.  Moreover, this honoree will demonstrate effectiveness in improving the environment for the creation and expansion of businesses owned and operated by women.

 

Nominate a Women Business Enterprise

Advocate of the Year – Women Business Enterprise
This award will be presented to either a WBE (Women's Business Enterprise) business owner or an employee of a certified WBE of the GWBC.  The winner will be selected for their extraordinary efforts to assist and support WBE business owners.  This individual will be recognized and honored for their desire to mentor, coach and support women-owned businesses by affording personal assistance and tutelage.

Trailblazer Award

This award will be presented to four (4) GWBC women business owners according to their annual revenue (under $500k, $500k - $1 Million, $1 Million - $10 Million, and More Than $10 Million).  Each business owner honored should exemplify the opportunities available through the efforts of entrepreneurial women and their participation in the free enterprise system by taking risk and being innovative.  Moreover, winners are to exhibit their community leadership as well as their business leadership.

    • Trailblazer Award: Category I - Annual Sales Under $500K
    • Trailblazer Award: Category II - Annual Sales $500K - $1 Million
    • Trailblazer Award: Category III - Annual Sales $1 Million - $10 Million
    • Trailblazer Award: Category IV - Annual Sales More Than $10 Million


Nomination Instructions

To nominate a women business enterprise, buyer, corporation, government agency and/or advocate, please follow these instructions:

Step 1: Submission of Nomination

Any GWBC corporate member or certified WBE may submit up to 5 nominations for each category through the online nomination system. All nominations are strictly confidential. Self-nominations are accepted. Nominators are prohibited from contacting or discussing their nominations with any member of the judging panel unless they are contacted directly by the judging panel. All nominations must be received by September 5, 2008 by 5:00pm ET. Nominations received after September 5, 2008 will not be accepted.

As a nominator, you must provide the following information for yourself:

  • Your name
  • Company
  • Position
  • Email address
  • Phone number

For each nomination, you must provide the following information for the nominee:

  • Nominee’s name
  • Company name
  • Title
  • Address
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Nominating category

Step 2: Submission of Nominee’s Application

All nominees that are in good standing with GWBC will receive a nomination application form to be completed in its entirety for review by the judging panel.  Incomplete applications will be disqualified from the judging and selection process.  All nominee applications must be received by October 3, 2008, 5:00pm ET.  Nominee applications received after October 3, 2008 will not be accepted.

Judges

A panel of judges led by GWBC’s Awards Nomination Committee, selected WBEs and corporate representatives will participate anonymously in the judging process to select the LACE Award recipients.  Winners will be announced at the 2008 LACE Awards Luncheon on November 5, 2008.
